Class Descriptions & Focus

Earth classes focus on the fundamentals and basics of yoga postures, breath work and yoga philosophy. The classes work to connect us on a primary level to our physical condition and having a healthy relationship with our body. The classes help to create steadiness and are grounding in nature and cultivate a deeper sense of stability. Earth classes are appropriate for all levels, including beginners.

water
water

Water classes are fluid in nature. They encourage us to reconnect with our emotional state by deeply synergizing movement and breath. The vinyasa flow in these practices are designed to create a sense of freedom and ease and improve our ability to be in the present moment. These classes also help develop the skill of bringing joy to our time off the mat. Earth, Air, & Space classes prepare for this practice.

Fire classes are intensely purifying, challenging and transformative. Focus is placed on challenging our perspectives, habits and old ways in both the body and the mind. Advanced postures and concepts are introduced, but the opportunities in these classes are to let go and align your mental focus with your intention through your practice. Fire classes are about the cultivation of power and the release of the ego. Previous experience at TANTRA or with a Mysore practice suggested.

Air classes are healing and heart-centered. They regularly include time for meditation and inquiry. Like wind, the pace changes, leaving time for postures that help to both strengthen and open. Equal attention is given to standing, sitting, and reclining. Air classes are focused on cultivating balance and ease by working with brahmacharaya (good intention & right effort), to make movement a prayer. This practice is good for all-levels.

Space classes are gentle and deeply therapeutic. They are designed to help us restore, refine, and rest. Yin and therapeutic postures are the physical focal point, with dharma and darshan (classical philosophy and subtle storytelling) as the support for healing. By use of props, sound, and mantra we are able to stay longer in the therapeutic postures to begin the process of releasing tensions that are physical and emotional. Space classes are designed for everyone and support all other classes.

Community, study, and sacred living are what bring the Awareness & Spirit classes to life. They are led in the classical satsang style where the focus is on the exploration of yogic philosophy through lecture and discussion. These classes are more like the meeting of like-minded where the intention is to cultivate community, explore yogic wisdom, and be inspired. All are welcome.
